The Master PVD Gold Process

Materials · Color & Finish

A considered finish brings warmth and color to a design. Here is what PVD means, how it relates to the metal beneath it, and where to find the details for each piece.

01 · The finish

Color is a finish, not the core metal

PVD means Physical Vapor Deposition, a vacuum-based process used to apply a finish to a surface. On applicable LOTTEDS designs, PVD creates the gold-tone color. It does not mean the piece is made of solid gold.

The metal beneath the finish varies by design. Check the material and finish details on the individual product page before choosing your piece.

02 · The stated standard

A clear point of reference

Our Materials Guide states a standard PVD thickness range of 0.3–0.5 micron. Finish specifications can vary by design, so the product page is the best place to check the details for the piece you are considering.

This gives you a useful comparison point without treating every color or design as identical.

03 · Everyday care

Keep the finish looking its best

Put jewelry on after perfume and lotion. Limit contact with harsh chemicals and abrasive surfaces, and gently wipe the piece with a soft cloth after wearing. Simple care helps preserve its appearance.
